Every spring, I look forward to seeing the magnificent magnolia tree in my neighbour’s garden burst into bloom—and this year, it hasn’t disappointed! In a similar way, our association is now seeing the first blossoms of a new chapter under our constitution as a company limited by guarantee. Very soon, members will be asked to complete the final step in this transformation by formally dissolving the ‘old eAA’. It’s been a significant journey, and the Board is excited to use our new status to further strengthen and grow the association. As always, we welcome your ideas and suggestions on how we can do that together.
Meanwhile, our panel of judges is hard at work reviewing entries for this year’s international awards and we’ve seen a fantastic 40% increase in submissions. The most popular categories were ‘Most Innovative Use of Technology’ and our new addition: ‘AI in Assessment Innovation’. We’re incredibly grateful to our volunteer judges, who give their time so generously. Many tell us how inspiring it is to read about the groundbreaking work happening across the globe in our sector. We can’t wait to celebrate with you at the Awards Dinner in London in June!
While the benefits of digital assessment are increasingly evident to us and to learners, we still have work to do to bring some policymakers on board. The eAA has responded to the UK Government’s initial report on the review of the curriculum. Disappointingly, the role of new technologies appears to have been downplayed. You can read our CEO Pat Coates’ response here. As an association, we’re committed to ensuring our voice is heard—and we encourage you, our members, to do the same.
Finally, don’t forget to book your tickets for the International e-Assessment Conference and Awards – and spread the word to your colleagues across the industry. We look forward to seeing you there!

Meet the Judges
The e-Assessment Association International Awards 2025 wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated panel of judges.
Over the past two weeks, they’ve been working hard to review an exceptional range of submissions, bringing their expertise and insight to ensure a fair and rigorous process. We’re incredibly grateful for their time and commitment in helping us celebrate innovation and excellence in digital assessment.
At the meeting on 24 July 2024, eAA members agreed to incorporate the association as a non-profit company limited by guarantee. We're pleased to confirm that this incorporation was successfully completed on 25 February 2025.
With the incorporation complete and the transfer of responsibilities now finalised, this E-Poll seeks to formally approve the dissolution—previously agreed in principle—as a final constitutional step.
Thinking about digital assessment but unsure if it’s the right move? You’re not alone. Myths around cost, cheating, and the need for a full system overhaul often cloud the conversation.
